The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered banks to freeze all accounts associated with Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, chairman of Bashundhara Group, and Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the conglomerate’s managing director, along with their family members. This includes the accounts of Sadat Sobhan, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan's son; Sonia Ferdowshi Sobhan, wife of Sadat Sobhan; Shafiat Sobhan, vice chairman of Bashundhara Group and another son of Ahmed Akbar Sobhan; and Sabrian Sobhan, wife of Sayem Sobhan Anvir. The anti-money laundering agency issued a letter to banks, instructing them to freeze these personal accounts for an initial period of 30 days.
