Bangladesh's Shanum wins Silver at International Psychology Olympiad

Shanum Sarkar, a recent graduate of Bangladesh International Tutorial (BIT), won a Silver Medal at the 2024 International Psychology Olympiad (IPsyO). This relatively new competition has gained popularity among psychology enthusiasts, with participants from 42 countries this year. The IPsyO is accessible to all students, as it has no qualifying rounds and allows free registration for the international round. The Olympiad aims to support students interested in psychology and behavioral science, fostering the next generation of scientists in this field by promoting psychological research to address real-world issues. Shanum expressed that the experience taught her the practical applications of psychology. This year's theme focused on using AI to understand and address mental health challenges effectively. Shanum is only the second Bangladeshi to win an award at IPsyO, following Parthib Paul from Government City College, Chattogram, who won a Bronze Medal in 2023.
