The Chinese ambassador made the announcement during a briefing about the visit of Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser to China on Tuesday, February 18. Ambassador Yao Wen mentioned that three hospitals in Kunming have been designated for the treatment of Bangladeshis. In case of an emergency, Bangladeshis seeking treatment can directly approach the embassy, where visas will be issued on the same day.
Highlighting the political significance of the Foreign Affairs Adviser's visit, Yao Wen described it as highly effective, reaffirming that mutual cooperation between the two nations will continue to be beneficial. The ambassador also emphasized that China fully respects the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, reiterating that China does not interfere in the internal matters of Bangladesh.
On the topics of scholarships and investment, Ambassador Yao Wen assured that China’s support for Bangladesh's economic and social development will remain steadfast. He further added that more Bangladeshi students would be granted Chinese scholarships for higher education.
Moreover, Ambassador Yao Wen revealed that China will be importing mangoes, jackfruits, and flowers from Bangladesh. He also mentioned that 13 Chinese companies have signed investment agreements since August, making China the largest investor in Bangladesh over the last six months under the interim government. He concluded by stating that an agreement regarding the development of Mongla Port management will be signed soon.
