Researchers from Jessore University of Science and Technology have found that using nano urea in Bangladeshi agriculture could potentially cut fertilizer expenses by up to 50%. Currently, the cost of traditional urea fertilizer stands at approximately 4,200 BDT per bag, whereas nano urea offers a far more economical option, with an estimated application cost of only 230 BDT per bigha. This groundbreaking agricultural solution has been developed by Professor Dr. Javed Hossain Khan and has already undergone several successful trials in the United States. At present, nano urea is being tested in pilot programs across Bangladesh. Supporters of this innovation point out that nano urea not only significantly reduces input costs for farmers but also contributes to preserving soil fertility. However, agricultural experts stress that for nano urea to be adopted on a wider scale, strong government backing and well-structured long-term planning are essential to ensure its successful commercialization and integration into mainstream farming practices.
