Bangladesh and the issue of Bangladeshi Hindus have once again become a focal point in Indian politics. Leaders of the ruling BJP and its allies have recently made strong allegations against Bangladesh, accusing it of targeting a sector of the country’s voters and using the issue to further their political interests.
The incident took place in Gadchiroli, Uttar Pradesh, near the India–Bangladesh border, where a BJP campaign rally was disrupted by protests.
According to Indian media sources, on December 23, the rally was halted after officials concluded it could pose a risk to public safety, following opposition protests and clashes between BJP supporters and local residents.
In a report by The Hindu, it was stated that tensions escalated when a BJP leader attempted to raise the issue of Bangladeshi Hindus, prompting strong reactions from the crowd.
