Bangladeshi-born Australian billionaire and entrepreneur Robin Khuda has donated 100 million Australian dollars (around 800 crore BDT) to the University of Sydney, making it the largest single endowment in the university’s history. The donation will fund STEM scholarships for female students over the next 20 years.
Vice-Chancellor Mark Scott shared that discussions for this initiative took two years before Khuda finalized and launched the program. Khuda praised the university’s academic and research excellence as a key reason behind his decision.
Last year, Khuda gained global recognition after selling Airtank, the Australian data center company he founded, to Blackstone Inc. for over $10.8 billion, making him one of Australia’s youngest tech billionaires.
Originally from Sirajganj, Bangladesh, Khuda moved to Australia at 18 with his father. He later studied business and accounting in Australia, the U.S., and the U.K., becoming a prominent figure in the global tech industry.
