In previous years, a significant portion of Bangladeshi shoppers would visit popular Indian shopping destinations such as Kolkata's New Market and Mallick Bazaar, where they spent a substantial amount on Eid purchases. However, recent political and diplomatic tensions have led to a noticeable decline in cross-border shopping. As a result, this change has not only helped the country conserve foreign currency but also provided a boost to local businesses, with more consumers opting to shop within domestic markets for their Eid necessities.
