After the previous government stepped down, Bangladesh’s remittance inflow has continued to rise, reaching $2.3 billion in October 2024—a 16.75% increase compared to $1.97 billion in October 2023. Hosne Ara Shikha, Executive Director and Spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, shared this data with the media. In September, remittances reached $2.4 billion, and as of October 30, foreign exchange reserves stood at $19.87 billion, reported according to BPM6 standards. During the first 19 days of October alone, remittances brought in over $1.5 billion. Bangladesh recorded its highest monthly inflow in nearly four years in June, with $2.54 billion, driven by a surge that began in April, as monthly inflows exceeded $2 billion through June, especially around Eid seasons.
