Bangladesh is considering adding the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet to its Air Force fleet under a potential defence deal with Pakistan. The issue was discussed during a recent visit by Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan to Islamabad.
During talks with Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Siddiqui, both sides explored the possible purchase of JF-17 jets and wider defence cooperation. According to Pakistan’s military media wing ISPR, discussions covered aircraft acquisition, training, technology transfer and enhancing operational capabilities.
The JF-17 Thunder, jointly developed by Pakistan and China, is a multi-role combat aircraft capable of air-to-air combat, ground attacks and all-weather surveillance missions.
