On August 12 and 13, the skies of Bangladesh will showcase the Perseid meteor shower, a yearly event that happens around the same time each August. This year, the best viewing is expected in the early hours of August 13. The Perseids are visible across the Northern Hemisphere.
Unlike last year, when the moon was absent during the shower, this time moonlight will be present, possibly making it harder to see the meteors clearly. Scientists explain that the meteors originate from the Perseus constellation, specifically from the star Perseus. Despite the moonlight, the meteor shower promises a stunning display.
The name "Perseid" is derived from the Perseus constellation. This meteor shower happens every mid-August, with an estimated 100 meteors visible per hour this year. These meteors come from debris left behind by a comet.
