In the UAE, Eid Al Fitr 2026 is expected to begin on Friday, March 20, according to the Emirates Astronomy Society. Chairman Ibrahim Al-Jarwan said the Shawwal crescent for Hijri 1447 is likely to appear on the evening of February 17, though it may be hard to spot with the naked eye.
Astronomical calculations suggest Ramadan will start on February 19, 2026, and run for a full 30 days. Because of this, UAE authorities have indicated that the Eid holidays may last four days—from Sunday, March 19, to Wednesday, March 22—with regular office activities restarting on Monday, March 23.
The UAE Moon-Sighting Committee will give the final confirmation, but current predictions show March 20 as the most likely date for Eid Al Fitr and the first day of Shawwal.
