Bangladesh has reportedly stationed Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones near the West Bengal border, sources suggest. The Army is said to be verifying reports about the deployment of these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), operated by Bangladesh’s 67th Army, for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. Bangladesh has stated that the deployment is defensive, but the strategic implications of placing such advanced drones in a sensitive area have drawn India's attention. Acquired earlier this year, the Bayraktar TB2 drones enhance Bangladesh’s capabilities for surveillance and light strike operations. According to Defence Technology of Bangladesh (DTB), six out of the 12 ordered drones have already been operationalized.
