According to the Asian Development Bank’s Basic Statistics 2025 series, Bangladesh has emerged as the ninth-largest economy in Asia and the second-largest in South Asia, recording a GDP of USD 450.05 billion in 2024. The report, which encompasses data from 46 economies across the region (excluding Japan), highlights China's dominance with a GDP of USD 18.97 trillion, followed by India at USD 3.91 trillion. Other economies ranking ahead of Bangladesh include South Korea, Indonesia, Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The ADB’s comprehensive dataset is part of its ongoing efforts to monitor development trends and measure regional progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout Asia and the Pacific.
