At the third Bangladesh Economic Conference held on November 11 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, the Governor, stated that Bangladesh Bank has not printed any money in the past three months. He explained that alternative measures have been implemented to address the liquidity crisis without resorting to printing new money. He also highlighted that liquidity support is being provided to struggling banks, assuring that no bank will be shut down. However, he noted that reforming the banking sector may take two to three years, requiring the revaluation and recapitalization of weak banks. Additionally, audits will be conducted with the help of local and foreign experts to assess the banks' asset quality. Regarding Beximco, the governor clarified that a receiver has been appointed to manage the company's operations, not to close it. He also mentioned that the government has been covering Beximco’s salaries for several months and that the company’s activities will be closely monitored through the receiver.
