Bangladesh Bank has directed all scheduled banks to establish women-friendly washrooms, highlighting the shortage of adequate facilities for female staff and customers at banking workplaces.
The central bank noted that the lack of such washrooms is causing difficulties for women in accessing banking services.
Issued through a circular on Tuesday (6 January) to the managing directors and CEOs of all banks, the directive requires women-friendly washrooms at head offices, regional offices, branches, and sub-branches. Banks are also instructed to carry out necessary renovations and ensure the availability of proper sanitary supplies.
The circular emphasizes that all banks must provide hygienic, women-friendly washrooms for female officers, employees, and customers, along with maintaining appropriate sanitation facilities across all offices and branches.
