According to News18, the Awami League has plunged into internal strife following Sheikh Hasina’s alleged escape to India. Telegram has become the party’s main platform for communication, but it is now also being used for extortion and unauthorized activities. Reports suggest that intelligence agencies have infiltrated these groups, using them to monitor, track, arrest, and intimidate activists. Thousands of members—from grassroots to national levels—are reportedly engaging in these nightly sessions.
The report further alleges that senior leader Obaidul Quader is managing the party’s operations via Telegram in Hasina’s absence. His speeches focus on strategy, planning, and damage control. However, his leadership has sparked internal dissatisfaction, deepening existing tensions over leadership struggles and financial scandals within the party.
