In a recent Facebook post, Islamic scholar Mizanur Rahman Azhari urged organizers of tafsir mahfils to keep loudspeakers inside the event venue and ensure a quality sound system for attendees. He emphasized, "Keep the loudspeakers within the tent as much as possible. Those interested can listen to the tafsir while seated inside. Ensure a good sound system for the comfort of the audience." He also advised against using loudspeakers that project far and late-night discussions, particularly in urban areas, to avoid disturbing the sick, elderly, children, non-Muslims, and residents who are asleep. Azhari questioned, "Who has given us the right to force others to listen to this?"
He also warned, "If this continues, these traditional religious events will lose their relevance in modern society." Azhari called on organizers to prevent Islamic programs from becoming controversial and stressed that Muslims have a shared responsibility to showcase the beauty of Islam. "Islam is eternally beautiful and modern. The responsibility to highlight Islam’s beauty rests with me, you, and all of us," he stated.
