Leaders and activists of the banned Awami League staged a protest in front of the Bangladesh Consulate in New York, suspecting that Mahfuz Alam, Adviser to the Interim Government on Information and Broadcasting, was inside the consulate. They chanted various slogans, as seen in several videos circulating on social media.
The footage shows a large number of activists gathering in front of the consulate and marching. Some were seen pushing and shoving at the consulate’s entrance. Later, police arrived and brought the situation under control. However, Mahfuz Alam was not seen at the scene.
