The Awami League has announced a blockade on February 16 and a nationwide dawn-to-dusk strike on February 18, protesting the interim government's "misrule and oppression" while demanding its resignation. The party made the announcement on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday night (January 28).
As per the declared program, leaflets will be distributed from February 1 to 5, followed by protest rallies and processions on February 6. Demonstrations are set for February 10, leading up to the blockade on February 16 and the nationwide strike on February 18.
In a press release, the party also called for the withdrawal of murder and other cases filed against Sheikh Hasina and others at the International Crimes Tribunal, labeling them as "mock trials." The statement referred to Sheikh Hasina as the "Prime Minister."
