Burke, the highest-ranking Australian official to visit since the interim government took office, expressed interest in increasing regular migration from Bangladesh. He acknowledged the challenges facing Bangladesh post-dictatorship and praised its resilience. Additionally, Bangladesh's Home Adviser announced Australia would accept more Rohingya refugees. A memorandum on "Civil Maritime Security & Maritime Safety" was signed between the two nations during the meeting.
