Dhaka police have recovered the bodies of at least six women from different areas of the city. The recoveries took place between Friday night and Sunday morning in Mogbazar, Gulshan, Badda, Mirpur, Demra, and Jatrabari, and the bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital morgue for further examination.
The deceased include Shompa Akter from Mogbazar, Sadia Rahman Mim from Gulshan Kalachandpur, Subarna Akter from Aftabnagar in Badda, Sanjida Islam Mim, a student from Mirpur 10, Kohinur from East Boxnagar, Demra, and Asha Akter from Konapara, Adarshbag, Jatrabari.
On Sunday, Shompa Akter (26) was found hanging in her rented room in Mogbazar. Family members suggested she took her own life following domestic disputes. Her body was sent for post-mortem.
Sadia Rahman Mim (27) was found throat-slashed in her Gulshan residence. Her family discovered the locked house and found her body inside. Multiple sharp injuries were noted.
Subarna Akter’s body was recovered from Aftabnagar, Badda. Family members cited ongoing marital conflict with her husband Azharul Islam; he is being questioned by police.
Sanjida Islam Mim reportedly hanged herself in Mirpur due to family disputes.
Asha Akter was found hanging at her home in Jatrabari; her family filed a case against her husband Delwar Hossain for abetting suicide.
Kohinur was found hanging in her room in East Boxnagar, Demra, also reportedly due to family disagreements.
Separate cases have been filed for each incident, and police are investigating the exact causes of death.
