The Assam government has announced a complete ban on serving and consuming beef in restaurants, hotels, public events, and community spaces. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the decision, which was finalized in a state cabinet meeting. Initially, the ban applied near temples, but it now extends statewide. Minister Pijush Hazarika supported the move, challenging the Congress to either accept the ban or leave for Pakistan. This decision follows CM Sarma's earlier suggestion to implement such a ban, which came after Congress leaders accused the BJP of distributing beef during recent bypolls.
