ASM Abdur Rob, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, stated at a programme yesterday that if chanting "Joy Bangla" is deemed a crime, he is willing to be hanged. Rob, who first raised the red-green flag of Bangladesh on March 2, 1971, highlighted the slogan’s role during the Liberation War and its association with victory. He criticized Sheikh Hasina's rule, comparing it to Hitler's fascism, and emphasized that the Constitution can only be amended, not annulled.
The event, organized by the Serajul Alam Khan Research Centre in Baridhara DOHS to mark Serajul Alam Khan's 84th birth anniversary, featured several speakers. Mahmudur Rahman Manna called for creating strong political parties, while Professor Salimullah Khan discussed political creativity and the unresolved Chattogram Hill Tracts crisis. Freedom fighters and political leaders also reflected on Serajul Alam Khan's legacy and contributions to Bangladesh’s liberation.
