Felani Khatun's family, the teenage girl who was killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunfire at the Fulbari border in Kurigram, is now under the care of Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan from the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives.
The announcement was made on the advisor’s Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon (January 7). The post stated that Advisor Asif Mahmud has taken on the responsibility of ensuring the education and employment of Felani's siblings. A photo shared with the post shows the advisor with Felani's parents and brother.
Felani Khatun, a Bangladeshi teenager, tragically lost her life on January 7, 2011, when BSF member Amiya Ghosh shot her while she was crossing a barbed wire fence with her father at the Anantpur border in Fulbari upazila, Kurigram. Her lifeless body, riddled with bullets, was left hanging on the barbed wire for nearly four hours.
