The National Citizen Party (NCP) is preparing to nominate candidates for the mayoral posts in both Dhaka city corporations. According to party sources, spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adib are being considered as potential nominees.
It is learned that Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan is likely to contest for mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, while Ariful Islam Adib may run for Dhaka North City Corporation.
NCP sources said the two leaders are currently under primary consideration as possible candidates. A close associate of Asif Mahmud confirmed that he intends to contest the Dhaka South mayoral race under the NCP banner.
Meanwhile, confirming his potential candidacy, Ariful Islam Adib stated that both he and Asif Mahmud are in preliminary discussions for the two city corporation elections, and that the party will announce its final decision later.
