Following the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the BNP has begun the process of forming the government. Preparations are underway for the swearing-in of the newly elected Members of Parliament as well as for the formation of the new administration.
Heads of state and other distinguished guests from various countries are expected to be invited to the swearing-in ceremony.
It is being reported that India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, may be included in the list of invited guests.
Amid this, National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud posted a statement on his verified Facebook page regarding the matter.
In his post, he wrote that if Narendra Modi—whom he described as the mastermind behind the establishment of fascism in Bangladesh and infamously known as the “Butcher of Gujarat”—attends the swearing-in ceremony, they would have to consider boycotting the event.
Earlier, sources from the Cabinet Division said that the newly elected Members of Parliament are scheduled to take oath on Tuesday (17 February) in the morning. The new cabinet will be sworn in later that evening at Bangabhaban.
