Ali Imam Majumder, a food consultant, shared his concerns over rising prices at a press conference after a Food Department meeting on Thursday (November 14). While he is feeling the pressure as a buyer, he expressed optimism for improvement. He highlighted a bumper Aman harvest this year, with paddy being purchased at 33 taka, and rice at 44 to 47 taka. Additionally, the government has opened an LCO for importing 1.5 lakh tonnes of food to prevent shortages and will begin an Aman paddy collection campaign next week to ensure fair prices for farmers.
