During a special ceremony, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus highly praised the Bangladesh Army for successfully constructing 300 homes for flood-affected families in the southeastern region, completing the project at less than half of the allocated budget. The initiative followed the severe floods in August and September 2024, which left thousands homeless across districts including Feni, Noakhali, Comilla, and Chittagong. In response to this disaster, a housing project was launched under the Chief Advisor’s directive with a budget of Tk 50 crore. Remarkably, the Bangladesh Army completed the entire project using only about Tk 25 crore by adopting two standard housing designs, reflecting their exceptional efficiency, deep compassion, and high level of professionalism. This initiative has been recognized as a model of effective disaster governance, offering emotional relief to displaced families and proving that strong leadership paired with organized, strategic action can result in meaningful and resource-efficient development.
