The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organized a protest rally and march in Chattogram in response to the attack on its activists in Gazipur. The demonstration took place on Saturday (February 8) in front of the Chattogram Press Club, where protesters gathered under the banner “Protest Against Awami Terrorist Attacks and Demand for Party Ban.” As part of the program, the participants also held a symbolic Gayebana Janaza (absentia funeral prayer) for the home affairs advisor before marching in protest through the area.
During the rally, the organization’s central coordinator, Russell Ahmed, strongly criticized the government, stating, “This government has repeatedly failed. It has been six months, yet the killers have not been brought to justice. The law and order situation in Bangladesh continues to deteriorate, and the police administration remains ineffective. That is why today, from the land of Bir Chattola, we are declaring a ban on the Awami League.”
Chattogram coordinator Jobayerul Alam Manik also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the urgency of their demands. “We demand immediate action against the identified perpetrators,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, during the protest, Farooq-e-Azam, who serves as an advisor to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, arrived at the Chattogram Press Club for an event. However, due to the ongoing demonstration, his vehicle was temporarily blocked. Despite the obstruction, he managed to enter the venue on foot.
