Three people, including two with gunshot wounds, were injured today during a clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Gazipur. The altercation took place near Kali Mandir after a donation distribution event for 107 Puja mandaps, organized on behalf of BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. Shafiqul Islam Titu, former joint general secretary of the metropolitan Jubo Dal, and Sabed Talukdar, an advisor to Ward 27 BNP, sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Jubo Dal leader Oliullah Tuhin, who was wounded by a machete, was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Nazir Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner (North) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, stated, “We’ve received reports that the attack and shooting stemmed from prior enmity. Orders have been issued to apprehend those responsible for the incident.”
