On Thursday, March 13, at around 7:45 PM, angry locals set fire to the house of the accused in the rape case of Asiya Khatun in Magura. Earlier, Asiya was laid to rest in her ancestral village, Sonaikundi, in Sripur Upazila, following her funeral prayers after the Isha prayer. Before iftar, her body was transported to Magura by military helicopter, and the funeral prayer was held at 7 PM at Nomani Maidan in Magura town.
Following Asiya's tragic death, students and locals took to the streets in protest, blocking roads in Magura. Protesters staged several marches and eventually blocked roads in the Vayna area of the town. After the funeral service, her body was transported to her village for another funeral prayer before being laid to rest. After the burial, outraged locals set fire to the homes of the accused.
