Political parties have pledged unity on issues of national independence, sovereignty, and dignity following a meeting with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday. Addressing journalists after the meeting, Law Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul stated that the parties strongly condemned recent anti-Bangladesh actions in India, including the attack on the Assistant High Commission in Agartala and interference in Bangladesh's internal affairs. The participants also called for transparency regarding agreements signed with India over the past 15 years and demanded the cancellation of detrimental projects, such as the Rampal Power Plant. "There was unanimous agreement that we are neither powerless nor weak. We will stand united and courageous against any propaganda or provocation," Nazrul emphasized, quoting the meeting's discussions. The gathering included representatives from various political parties, such as a five-member BNP delegation led by Standing Committee member Khondker Mosharraf Hossain, Jamaat-e-Islami's Amir Shafiqur Rahman, and leaders from the Communist Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Party, and other political organizations. This meeting is part of the Chief Advisor’s broader national unity initiative, which includes engagements with student leaders and religious organizations. A session with religious leaders is scheduled for tomorrow.
