On Tuesday, Ahmed Eltayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al Sharif, expressed optimism about Bangladesh’s future under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. As the esteemed head of one of the world’s leading Islamic institutions, he also invited Professor Yunus to deliver a speech at Al-Azhar University and announced new fully funded scholarships for Bangladeshi students. This exchange took place during their meeting at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. Professor Yunus thanked the Grand Imam for the invitation and, in return, invited him to visit Bangladesh to see the impact of the recent student-led movement. The Chief Adviser also discussed the reforms initiated by the Interim Government in response to this mass movement.
