AIUB Architecture student earns international recognition for innovative thesis project

Ms. Shahira Sarwat, an AIUB Architecture student, received a Commendation at the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) Awards 2024 in the Presidents' Awards category, which highlights outstanding final-year architecture projects. Her thesis, "Heritage Sanctuary for Geology," focused on preserving Jaflong's unique geological formations in Sylhet and was guided by Ashik Vaskor Mannan, Irfat Alam, and Arefeen Ibrahim. Among 159 submissions from 12 countries, Shahira’s work stood out. Her project has also been shortlisted for the ARCASIA Thesis of the Year Award 2024, further advancing her international recognition.
