Jessore is experiencing a worrying rise in HIV/AIDS cases, especially among students. In the first six months of 2025, 37 new cases were reported, including 25 students aged 17–23, doubling last year’s student cases. Of the total, 23 are men, 14 women, and 23 are homosexuals. In 2024, five of 25 infected individuals died. Currently, 220 patients receive treatment at the ART Center in Jessore, including people from other districts of Khulna division. Experts link the rapid spread to the district’s border location and local conditions. Authorities plan preventive services, treatment access, and a steady supply of essential medicines to address the crisis.
