After the death anniversary, the 148th birth anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated at the National Press Club. During the event, speakers stated, "For the past 15 years, mentioning the name of Muhammad Ali Jinnah was unofficially banned in Bangladesh. Yet, it is because of Quaid-e-Azam that we have Bangladesh today." On Wednesday, December 25, the international seminar titled "148th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah" was organized by Nawab Salimullah Academy at the Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club. During the seminar, the speakers made these remarks. Mohammad Shamsuddin, the convener of the Citizens' Council, said, "We became an independent Muslim country in 1947. We have Bangladesh today because of Quaid-e-Azam. If he had not come here in 1947, there would have been no industry or factories in Bangladesh." He further added, "Before Operation Searchlight, India had attacked our Urdu-speaking people. They believed that if they could kill the Urdu-speaking people, they could capture Bangladesh. I express my gratitude to the Urdu-speaking people in Bangladesh, as their ancestors contributed to the establishment of industries and factories here." Faruk Hasan, the general secretary of a faction of the Ganodhikar Parishad, said, "For the past 15 years, the Awami League has tried to make people believe that without India, Bangladesh could not have become independent. This is entirely false. India only wanted Bangladesh to separate from Pakistan." He continued, "For the last 15 years, the name of Muhammad Ali Jinnah was unofficially banned in Bangladesh. If you mentioned his name, you would face legal cases or be accused of a grave sin. The Awami League created a situation where they refuse to acknowledge the great leaders of history. The reason is simple—they fear that acknowledging those leaders would erase their so-called 'Father of the Nation' from history." Afzal Warsi, the Secretary-General of the Indian-origin Urdu-speaking Minority Council of Bangladesh, said, "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman never criticized Quaid-e-Azam, which means he also respected him." He added, "It was because of India that we were divided into two countries. Because of them, we, the two brothers (Bangladesh and Pakistan), fought a war. We, the Muslims, were killed in that war. What did we gain? We ended up becoming India's subservients." Mojammel Hossain Khan Majlis, chairman of the National Independence Party, said, "The implementation of the Lahore Resolution is the foundation of Bangladesh's independence." He further suggested, "I think we should recognize the founding fathers without the need for a 'Father of the Nation.' Nawab Salimullah, Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Huq, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, and Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani should be considered the founders of Muslim independence in the subcontinent." Other speakers at the event also described various events from Muhammad Ali Jinnah's life, from his birth to his death. It is noteworthy that on September 11, an earlier discussion on the 76th death anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah was held at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club, organized by Nawab Salimullah Academy.
