A Madhya Pradesh government-funded research project aimed at developing cancer treatments using traditional cow-based formulations has sparked controversy following allegations of financial irregularities and questionable spending over nearly a decade.
Launched in 2011 at Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University in Jabalpur, the initiative focused on Panchagavya—a traditional mixture of cow dung, cow urine, and dairy products—as a possible treatment for serious diseases, including cancer. Although university officials initially sought around Rs 8 crore, the state government approved Rs 3.5 crore for the project.
