For 45 years, 71-year-old Mohammad Laskar Ali of Sunamganj has stayed true to a promise he made to his late wife, Fuljan Bibi: to run their business honestly and never adulterate their mustard oil. What started as an effort to overcome financial difficulties after their marriage has since grown into a trusted livelihood centred on traditionally produced, pure mustard oil.
Today, Laskar Ali continues the business alongside his son, using a traditional horse-powered wooden press to produce the oil and supplying customers in nearby villages and Sunamganj town. His dedication to quality and honesty has helped provide financial stability for his family and earned recognition from the Sunamganj Sadar Upazila administration for his contribution to producing and marketing pure mustard oil.
