With deep folds between its two horns and a sharp, piercing stare, the buffalo charges aggressively at anyone who comes too close, snorting loudly. Farm workers say even the people who feed and care for it every day are not spared from its headbutts. Because of its aggressive nature, the buffalo has been named “Netanyahu,” inspired by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The albino buffalo can be seen at SS Cattle Farm in the Dashergaon area of Bandar Upazila, Narayanganj. Since news of the unusual buffalo spread, crowds of curious visitors from different professions and backgrounds have been flocking to the farm.
Farmers and visitors say excitement has spread across the district ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. Hundreds of people are visiting the farm daily to catch a glimpse of the buffalo. Recently, another albino buffalo named “Donald Trump” went viral in Narayanganj because of its resemblance to Donald Trump. Following that trend, “Netanyahu” has now become the latest attraction.
The albino buffalo weighs more than 750 kilograms and is known for its fierce, war-like behavior. Visitors and farm workers claim that not only its temperament, but also its hair and eye shape resemble Benjamin Netanyahu.
One visitor said he came after hearing about the buffalo’s aggressive behavior. According to him, just as Netanyahu is often seen as a controversial and dominant figure on the world stage, the buffalo also behaves in a similarly mischievous and intimidating way. Even when workers approach it with food or water, it tries to charge at them while constantly shaking its horns in an aggressive manner.
The farm authorities say “Netanyahu” enjoys a royal diet that includes nutritious feed alongside grass and bran. It is bathed twice a day and kept in excellent condition. However, because of its constantly hot temper, caretakers maintain a safe distance while handling it.
A caretaker at the farm said the buffalo’s hair and eye shape resemble Benjamin Netanyahu, adding that the animal is extremely mischievous and clever. Even while being fed, it often attempts to headbutt people and snorts aggressively.
Mehedi, the manager of SS Cattle Farm, said the animal belongs to the albino breed and that the farm owns six such buffaloes. Since all of them are similarly mischievous, they have been named “Netanyahu One” through “Netanyahu Six.” He added that large numbers of people are visiting the farm every day to see them.
