The tourism ban in Sajek Valley and Khagrachhari, in place for over a month, was lifted on Tuesday. Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner Md Shahiduzzaman confirmed to UNB that all tourist spots in the district, including Sajek Valley, are now accessible via the Khagrachhari district road. This reopening is expected to revive tourism, offering support to businesses that rely on visitors. The initial restriction was enforced on September 25 following unrest in Khagrachhari and Rangamati on September 19 and 20, and was later extended to a full tourism shutdown on October 8 across the three hill districts.
