After 19 long years, Md. Moynul Haque from Sundarganj, Gaibandha, has finally returned home to Bangladesh from a remote region of Sudan. He had left for Khartoum in 2006 to work as a contractor but became stranded in the Abei area following the outbreak of civil war. The loss of his passport and legal documents made returning home nearly impossible.
With the support of the Bangladesh Army, arrangements were made for his repatriation. Moynul traveled from Abei to Juba, South Sudan, before boarding an Ethiopian Airlines flight that landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday, November 2. The Bangladesh Embassy extended financial and logistical assistance to make his return possible.
Overwhelmed with emotion upon reuniting with his family after nearly two decades, Moynul expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped him return. The Bangladesh Army said it was proud to play a part in this humanitarian mission and reaffirmed its dedication to serving the nation in times of need.
