The ongoing increase in the cost of necessities is making life difficult for the average person. The government has responded by stabilising the market and maintaining fair pricing for necessities; advisors have even been to different markets to help with this. Asif Mahmud, Advisor for Youth and Sports and Labour and Employment, visited a local market on Saturday, October 26.
He posted information on his market visit on his verified Facebook page.
Asif Mahmud is seen in the pictures examining market prices without a security entourage while donning a mask and a cap. Following the inspection, he said, "The price of a set of eggs has dropped from 60 to 48 taka, bottle gourd from 100 to 40-50 taka each, and green chilli from 300 to 140-150 taka per kilogramme."
The advisor also noted that pricing for vegetables are largely under control, adding, "Although prices vary slightly depending on location and market, they are expected to decrease further as winter vegetables begin arriving in the market."
