Seven-year-old Ishank from Ranchi has made history by setting a world record after swimming nearly 29 kilometres across the dangerous Palk Strait from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in India.
He completed the challenging swim in 9 hours and 50 minutes, becoming the youngest swimmer to cross the route. The feat, achieved on April 30, 2026, earned him the “Youngest and Fastest Palk Strait Swimmer” certificate from the Universal Records Forum.
A Class 3 student of DAV Shyamali, Ishank trained 4–5 hours daily at Dhurwa Dam under coaches Aman Kumar Jaiswal and Bajrang Kumar. His achievement has brought pride to his school, Ranchi, and the nation, and is being praised as a remarkable example of discipline, courage, and determination at a very young age.
