Nurul Islam, a 67-year-old resident of Ikuria village in Gazipur’s Kapasia upazila, has spent the past 30 years feeding local birds. Every day around 3 PM, he scatters food near his small shop—where he has run his business for 40 years—attracting around 200 to 300 birds, including bulbul, koel, and other local species. Nurul’s bird-feeding journey began with offering puffed rice to a few birds, evolving into a daily ritual. Despite his modest means, he continues this act out of a belief that it pleases his Creator and brings him personal fulfillment. His compassion extends beyond birds, as he also cares for mentally ill individuals and stray animals in the area. Admired by the local community, Nurul is seen as a symbol of kindness and empathy, inspiring others with his dedication to helping all living beings.
