Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Sherpur. Eyewitnesses reported that the crash occurred while the autorickshaw was attempting to avoid a dog. The incident happened around 11:45 AM on Sunday at the Jora Pump area of the Sherpur-Dhaka regional highway in Bhatsala. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Sadar Police Station, Jubaydul Alam, confirmed the accident. According to eyewitnesses, the autorickshaw swerved to dodge the dog and collided with an oncoming bus. Five passengers, including the autorickshaw driver, died instantly, and a woman, severely injured, later succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the district hospital. Police and eyewitnesses said the crash occurred when the autorickshaw, traveling from Nakla to Sherpur, collided with a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Roumari, Kurigram. The autorickshaw was completely crushed, resulting in the deaths of the driver and five passengers. Locals rescued the injured woman, but the hospital’s on-duty doctor declared her dead. After the accident, the bus driver fled the scene, but police have seized the bus.
