Early this morning, five-year-old Jisan eagerly accompanied his mother on a simple errand: bringing tea and breakfast from a nearby hotel in the Rampura area. Filled with joy, he playfully followed his mother, holding his two-year-old sister, Fatema Akter, in one hand and carefully balancing a mug of tea in the other, just a short walk from their rented tin-shed home in the Kunjaban area. Tragically, they had no warning of what was about to happen. An old, weakened brick wall beside the street suddenly collapsed, burying Jisan under the rubble. Locals rushed to help, lifting bricks in a desperate attempt to rescue him. Sadly, it was too late—Jisan was pronounced dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to his uncle, Nayan Sarder. Miraculously, his mother and sister survived. "Fatema had been playing with a rattle, which slipped from her hand and flew several yards away," Nayan explained. "As Fatema went to retrieve it, her mother, Jhumur Begum, stepped forward to help her. At that moment, the wall gave way and fell on Jisan, who was nearby." "The old wall had been in a crumbling state for a long time, posing a hazard to everyone on the street. Vehicles pass by, and pedestrians walk there constantly… It's a miracle that Jisan’s sister and mother survived," he added.
