Arabi Islam Suba, an 11-year-old girl, has been missing since February 2 from the Mohammadpur area near Krishi Market. According to her father, Md Razib, Suba had moved to Dhaka from Barishal a few months ago to stay with her aunt while her mother undergoes cancer treatment. She is a Grade VI student and had been living with her relatives during this time.
On the evening of her disappearance, Suba went out with her cousin. As they were crossing the road near Prince Bazar, her cousin successfully made it across, but Suba could not. When her cousin turned around to check on her, she was nowhere to be seen. She was last spotted wearing a pink T-shirt and black pants.
Md Razib shared that he immediately contacted the nearest police station for help. "We informed the police, and they accompanied us to the location. They have also collected CCTV footage from the area to assist in the search," he said.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Iftekhar Hasan confirmed that the family reported the matter to them verbally. "After receiving the information, we sent a sub-inspector to investigate the location. We are now in the process of collecting CCTV footage for further analysis," he stated. He also mentioned that there was some initial confusion regarding the exact jurisdiction of the incident.
Md Razib has posted a missing notice on social media, urging the public to help locate his daughter. According to the notice, Suba was last seen near Prince Bazar around 6:00 PM. It also requests anyone who might have spotted her in the Ring Road, Tajmahal Road, or Salimullah Road areas to immediately contact him at 01712-985858.
The police investigation is ongoing as the family continues their desperate search for Suba.
