Sri Lankan customs authorities have detained 22 Buddhist monks at Colombo International Airport after they returned from Thailand carrying 110 kg of cannabis. Officials said each monk had around 5 kg hidden in concealed compartments in their luggage. The group, mostly students from various monasteries, had reportedly gone on a four-day trip funded by an unidentified donor. A 23rd monk was later arrested in a Colombo suburb for allegedly organizing the trip.
