2 positive in dope test, 3 sent to jail over death of BUET student

Three youths involved in a fatal car crash that killed a BUET student were sent to jail on Friday in connection with the incident. The driver, Mubin Al Mamun (20), son of a retired army officer, along with Md. Merajul Karim (22), son of Rizwanul Karim, and Md. Asif Chowdhury (19), son of Bahauddin Chowdhury Baker, were arrested, according to police. Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mehedi Islam stated that the trio was presented in court following a dope test, which revealed that Mamun and Meraj had tested positive. The accident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Friday when Mohtassim Masud (22), a Computer Science and Engineering student at BUET, was standing with classmates Amit Saha (22) and Mehedi Hasan (22) at a police checkpoint on 300 Feet Road. The car struck the three students, killing Masud on the spot and injuring the others.
