A harsh Gaza winter has claimed another young life. Two-month-old Mohammed Abu Harbid has died from severe hypothermia, becoming the latest victim of a war that has left Palestinians without shelter, warmth, or basic means of survival. Zaher al-Wahidi, head of health information at the Ministry of Health, told Al Jazeera that the infant passed away at al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital.
His death raises the number of children who have frozen to death in Gaza since November 2025 to four, and to 12 since the war began in October 2023. As torrential rain and icy winds sweep the coastal territory, thousands of displaced families are trapped in a worsening humanitarian disaster, with the most vulnerable suffering the most.
